  • Clinic Details: Capstone Rural Health Center opened in June 2001 as a nurse-managed center and operated as a Certified Rural Health Center until 2007 with a goal to deliver family centered, quality primary health care to rural areas. This was made capable by the University of Alabama, Capstone College of Nursing, and Professor Dr. Jeri Dunkin; the initial funding was received from the Division of Nursing, Bureau of Health Professions, Health Resources and Services. Capstone Rural Health Center became a Federally Qualified Health Center under Section 330 of the Congressional Public Health Service Act in 2007. Capstone serves Walker County, Alabama and surrounding area populations by providing comprehensive primary care services that treat illness, as well as promote & maintain health. Capstone incorporates prevention and health promotion, treatment of illness, and management of chronic diseases - often all during the same visit. At Capstone Rural Health Center, we are far more than just health care providers. We are deeply rooted in our community; dedicated to nourishing and enriching the overall quality of life for our patients and community. I give the receptionist a thumbs up but i give the dr tom welch a minus 50 to 100 never in my life have i been treated so ugly rude and cursed by a doctor i would not ever recommend tom welch to anyone not even my worst enemy
