Clinic Details:Located in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center, Shriners Hospitals for Children - Houston specializes in delivering the highest quality care to children with a variety of orthopaedic and neuromusculoskeletal disorders and diseases, as well as cleft lip and palate abnormalities. We also provide sub-acute care and inpatient rehabilitation services for patients who have suffered an illness or accident that requires specialized care. Children up to age 18 receive all treatment and services regardless of the families’ ability to pay. Details: At Harris Health System, we want to improve healthcare for the homeless, and make it easier for the homeless to access healthcare services. Our Healthcare for the Homeless Program provides dental care and a variety of preventive and primary healthcare services to homeless individuals through shelter-based clinics and through mobile health and dental units. The program also provides eligibility and registration services through homeless shelter locations in the greater Houston area. Through a number of strategic partnerships, the Healthcare for the Homeless Program provides on-site mental health and substance abuse counseling. This program reduces or eliminates barriers to healthcare experienced by homeless individuals, enables healthcare problems to be detected and treated early, decreases emergency center use for primary care needs, increases immunization rates of homeless children, increases tuberculin screening and follow-up, and increases health promotion and prevention education among the homeless in our community.
Details: The Richard Stasney Medical Clinic on the CHT campus provides free healthcare services to any homeless or runaway youth. Services include primary care, STD and HIV screening, mental health care, case management, health education, drug awareness and education, and substance abuse assessments. We are proud of our partnership with Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital along with their licensed professionals who staff our clinic. The clinic aims to increase awareness of and address the health needs of youth, as well as encourage youth to develop and practice healthy living habits and prevention skills.
