The VNCOC Southland Health Center was founded in June 1998 in response to the urgent health needs of the large medically-undeserved population in the community. With a medical staff of three physicians, multiple nurse practitioners, three dentists, and strong supporting personnel, which includes four medical assistants and four dental assistants, the Center has accumulated a roster of nearly 10,000 patients with more than 15,000 visits per year, both dental and medical. The Center has also helped enrolled thousands of uninsured children to state-sponsored health insurance programs. Furthermore, since May of the 2015 the VNCOC Southland Health Center has been approved by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to be a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) clinic to provide even more quality health care to all residents of Orange County. In addition to being a FQHC clinic, Southland Health Center was also recognized by NCQA as a Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) facility.
