More than 30 years after the AIDS virus was discovered, the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS reports that 36.7 million people worldwide are living with the disease. In the United States, there are 1.2 million people with the disease, and 1 in 8 do not know it. Northeast Valley Health Corporation (NEVHC) continues to assist in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS. Currently, servicing more than 750 patients, NEVHC provides more than 2,000 HIV tests each year. Early medical care and treatment is important. HIV screenings are available at all NEVHC health centers, and treatment is provided at Van Nuys Adult Health Center. STI screenings and services are available at all health centers. All services are provided in a confidential and personal setting.
