Community Clinic was founded as St. Francis House NWA, Inc. in 1989 by faith-based community members who began providing ministries of food, clothing, and shelter to those in need. By 1994, the focus moved to health in response to the overwhelming need to care for the uninsured. In 1996, Community Clinic accepted an invitation from Bernice Jones to move to the Jones Resource Center in a professionally equipped medical, dental and eye facility. In 1998, Community Clinic was able to move beyond all-volunteer clinicians and hire full-time medical staff to work alongside our fully staffed dental office. In 2004, Community Clinic became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). As a Community Health Center we offer convenient locations and hours, affordable, quality, primary and preventive care to patients in Benton and Washington counties. Like the rest of Northwest Arkansas, Community Clinic has experienced tremendous growth over the last 15 years. Community Clinic has provided more than 118,000 medical and dental care visits to patients. Of those patients, 86 percent live at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level, 35 percent are uninsured and 52 percent are children. Community Clinic increased our footprint into additional School-Based Health Centers. We are dedicated to partnering with area schools to add two new health centers over the next year in medically underserved areas. These valuable services address children’s health problems on-site without requiring parents to miss work and allow the learning process to continue, uninterrupted.
