The mission of Highland Medical Center, Inc. is to provide access to the highest quality primary and preventive care to citizens of the region regardless of their ability to pay. Highland Medical Center serves all residents, although we target those with low income, the elderly and farmers. The medical center was established and supported by citizens within the community without any public funding up to 2003, and community financial support continues to be an important contribution to HMC's ongoing success today. In 2003, Highland Medical Center received its first funding as a Federally Qualified Health Center. This federal funding has enabled the medical center to expand and improve upon the type and quality of services. As the sole medical/dental provider in Highland County and in remote, surrounding areas, this level of financial support has been critical to our ability to provide access to affordable, quality healthcare. The medical center’s presence within the region has helped the county and surrounding areas provide economic growth and stability.
