About this clinic

Carriage Town opened the free Health Screening Clinic across from the main building on Garland Street. The health clinic provides access to medical, dental, and optometry services at “street level” for Carriage Town residents, non-homeless but extremely poor men, women, and children, and walk-up access for those living on the streets. The clinic is open 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday - Friday. We have a licensed PA on staff, Dennis Wallace, as coordinator of the clinic, who is able to see walk-in patients or patients by appointment.

Is dental care included?
Usually not, and this is the single most common disappointment. Dental is frequently a separate program with its own eligibility, its own waiting list, and a narrower service list — extractions and urgent pain may be covered while fillings, crowns, root canals, and dentures are not. Confirm that dental is offered at this specific location before travelling.
Can I get a prescription refilled here?
Most clinics require an appointment before they will refill anything, and a first appointment can be weeks out. If you are close to running out of a medication you cannot safely stop, say so when you call — say the medication name and how many days you have left. Ask your pharmacy at the same time; pharmacists can sometimes authorise a short emergency supply.
What if I need care today?
