About this clinic

The Holland Community Health Center (HCHC) opened in 1995 with one important goal in mind...to provide primary care for uninsured and under-insured individuals and families within the greater Holland area. Driven by the philosophy that high quality health care is the right of all people, this full service, nonprofit facility offers comprehensive, affordable and accessible health care regardless of language, cultural barriers or ability to pay. In 2004, Holland Hospital partnered with Michigan Medical, PC, a Grand Rapids-based medical provider group, to bring additional services and support to the Health Center. Combined, this partnership provides hundreds of thousands of dollars of support to the area’s most vulnerable patients.

Is this clinic actually free?

What should I bring to a first visit?

Call ahead — requirements vary, and arriving without the right paperwork is the most common reason a first visit gets rescheduled.
Do I need insurance, or immigration documents?
Federally funded health centers serve patients regardless of insurance status and do not require proof of citizenship to provide care. Volunteer and charitable clinics set their own rules. If it matters to you, ask before your visit what they require and what they record.
Is dental care included?
Usually not, and this is the single most common disappointment. Dental is frequently a separate program with its own eligibility, its own waiting list, and a narrower service list — extractions and urgent pain may be covered while fillings, crowns, root canals, and dentures are not. Confirm that dental is offered at this specific location before travelling.
Can I get a prescription refilled here?
Most clinics require an appointment before they will refill anything, and a first appointment can be weeks out. If you are close to running out of a medication you cannot safely stop, say so when you call — say the medication name and how many days you have left. Ask your pharmacy at the same time; pharmacists can sometimes authorise a short emergency supply.
What if I need care today?
