About this clinic

PUERTO RICO COMMUNITY NETWORK FOR CLINICAL SERVICES, RESEARCH AND HEALTH ADVANCEMENT, mejor conocido por sus siglas como Puerto Rico CONCRA, somos una organización de base comunitaria que ofrece servicios preventivos y de salud especializada en el tratamiento para el Virus de Inmunodeficiencia Humana (VIH) y enfermedades de transmisión sexual. La organización fue fundada en el 1990 en el pueblo de Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, y se rige por una Junta de Directores compuesta por miembros respetables de la comunidad, que aportan su tiempo de manera voluntaria. Anualmente, PRCONCRA sirve a más de 900 personas que viven con el VIH en sus clínicas y programas. A través de varias fuentes de fondos federales, estatales y privados, la organización cubre los costos asociados al cuidado del VIH, servicios de prevención, pruebas de detección del VIH, y otros servicios de apoyo, que no están cubiertos por los planes médicos. Para garantizar que cada paciente reciba el cuidado más completo y de mejor calidad, la organización cuenta con un equipo multidisciplinario de médicos especialistas, enfermeras, manejadores de caso, orientadores, psicólogos, dentistas y personal de apoyo; solidarios, dedicados y sensibles a las necesidades de los pacientes. En adición, la organización ofrece servicios de prevención y realiza la prueba rápida de detección del VIH a sobre 250 personas en alto riesgo de contraer el VIH, mensualmente. PRCONCRA es la única organización en Puerto Rico con un centro de prevención y tratamiento especializado en jóvenes con VIH o en alto riesgo de contraer VIH. En adición, a través de su participación en proyectos de investigación, la organización es reconocida como pionera en Puerto Rico en el desarrollo de programas como el de Educación de Pares y PrEP. Por su trayectoria de servicio y el peritaje con poblaciones especiales dentro del campo del VIH, PRCONCRA se ha ganado el respeto de la comunidad, y es considerada como un recurso de apoyo técnico y asesoría a otras organizaciones en Puerto Rico, Estados Unidos y el Caribe.
