While the main SMHC facility is located in an urban neighborhood of Sioux City, SMHC has partnered with several agencies in the community to establish alternative sites to increase accessibility to mental health care. This includes having mental health therapists stationed within the Sioux City School District, Western Iowa Tech, and Juvenile Court Services. Siouxland Mental Health Center stations a Care Coordinator in both hospitals, Mercy Medical and UnityPoint Health Systems, to assist patients with mental illness in receiving services within the community and to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and Emergency Room visits.
