Details: In 2009 Family Health Care Centers of Greater Los Angeles became a Federally Qualified Health Center, (FQHC) receiving direct support from the U.S. Bureau of Primary Health Care (part of the Health Resources Services Administration). FHCCGLA operates four clinics, the Bell Gardens Medical Center, Hawaiian Gardens Health Center. Maywood Medical Center, and the Downey Family Medical Center. We are also establishing a school based health center at Bell Gardens High School by Summer 2015. FHCCGLA provides comprehensive primary care for men, women, adolescents, and children living in the South East Los Angeles region. Our clinics operate as non-profit community health centers with a goal to provide high quality, coordinated, and complete primary care to uninsured and indigent residents of greater Los Angeles.

Details: St. John’s Well Child and Family Center (SJWCFC) is an independent 501(c)(3) community health center. We serve patients of all ages through a network of Federally Qualified Health Centers and school-based clinics that span the breadth of Central and South Los Angeles and Compton. Our work, however, goes far beyond the traditional health care model to embrace the broader concept of well-being. In addition to providing a broad array of primary care services, we place a high priority on developing supportive services to address families’ educational, socio-economic, and mental health needs. This is accomplished through outreach, health education, child development and literacy education, case management, insurance enrollment, and mental health assessments. We have and continue to establish strong partnerships with health, educational, social service and development agencies to deliver a wide range of services that are responsive to community needs.

Details: BAART Community HealthCare Clinics are licensed and certified by the California Department of Health Services. BAART Community HealthCare’s mission is to provide people with cost effective, comprehensive primary medical care and other health care services at its clinics or through community linkages, and to make such services available to as many people as possible that seek them. Details: JWCH Institute Inc. is a private non-profit health agency that was established as the Attending Staff Association of the John Wesley County Hospital in 1960 by concerned L.A. County physicians. These staff physicians sought to establish an agency that could obtain additional funds to support and augment patient care, education, and research at the John Wesley facility. When the hospital was demolished in 1979, the agency continued its efforts to assist LA County patients, but the name was no longer relevant and was subsequently changed to JWCH Institute Inc.

As one of the few remaining free clinics in the state, our mission is to provide free health care services to low-income and uninsured residents in Southern California, through the support of generous volunteers and donors. We are acutely aware of the shortage of affordable health care services and recognize that low-income and uninsured patients are often forced to make difficult choices between paying for medical care or using the money to pay for food, rent and other basic necessities. We strive to ensure that no one forgoes medical, dental or vision services due to cost or their immigration status.
