Details: RKM Primary Care in Clinton is our oldest location and was opened in 1999, not long after Dr. Richard Kell Munson retired from over 40 years of practice in Clinton. Family Nurse Practitioners Ginger Hunt and Darie Gilliam shared Dr. Munson’s passion for providing health care to the rural community that would otherwise have to drive many miles to access care. With this in mind, they wanted to honor his years of service by making the clinic his namesake- thus RKM. RKM Primary Care opened April 30, 1999, moved to a new, larger clinic in 2003, and received federal funding in 2005 while doing all within the organization’s power to assist those in desperate need after hurricane Katrina. It is the main clinic within the Primary Care Providers for a Healthy Feliciana, Inc. network and houses the administrative offices for the organization. From the humble beginnings of the 800 square foot converted Jim Walter Home, RKM Primary Care Clinton now occupies a state of the art 20,000 square foot clinic facility which was completed in March 2010.
Details: In November 1999, Primary Care Providers for a Healthy Feliciana, Inc. opened a rural health center inside the Clinton Middle School, then located at 12126 Liberty Street. This center received Federally Qualified Health Center Status in September 2005 along with RKM Primary Care immediately following Hurricane Katrina. In January 2009, in what was then Clinton High School a federally qualified health center was opened with a new modular building on the campus of the Clinton High School known as Clinton High Health Center. After the school system consolidated the High Schools and the Middle Schools, this clinic became Clinton Middle Health Center. The clinic is staffed by a nurse practitioner, registered nurse, social worker, medical assistant, and receptionist. A floating dentist and dental hygienist also visit the health center for exams, cleanings, and sealants. The clinic serves the school’s 333 students in grades 7-8, the students’ families, the school faculty, and the entire community.
Details: The health center located at the Jackson School Complex serves Pre-K through 12th grade students, their parents, the school faculty, and the community at large. It first opened in 2005 as a school-nurse clinic in a second-floor room within the complex building, but moved into a new 2000 square foot modular building in 2007. Fast forward ten years and the Jackson Complex Health Center now occupies a 5,800 square foot state of the art building. The clinic accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and most commercial insurances. We also offer a sliding fee scale based on income level and family size and accept major credit cards or cash as payment. We provide lab services on site including Urine Drug Screens.
