About this clinic

Compass Health Network is a nonprofit health care organization that provides a full continuum of behavioral health services and supports as well as primary and dental health services throughout Missouri and Louisiana. Our roots trace back to 1974 when we first began strategizing ways to increase access to behavioral health care in Missouri. Since then, two leaders in the mental health field in Missouri, Jerry Osborne, founder of Pathways Community Health, and Karl Wilson, founder of Crider Health Center, worked tirelessly to build a complete continuum of behavioral health, substance use disorder, primary care, and dental services for those most in need. As those organizations merged in 2014 to include Royal Oaks Hospital, a state-of-the-art inpatient behavioral health facility, today’s Compass Health Network is poised to help its customers achieve full, productive, healthy lives. Compass Health Network takes a person-centered, integrated approach to caring for our customers. This health care model focuses on treating the whole person and is a collaboration of care involving the individual customer, personal providers and, when appropriate, family members. Our efficient, effective services are enhanced by data and technology to ensure customers receive evidence-based care delivered in the right way, at the right time, and in the right place.

Is this clinic actually free?

What if I have no income at all?
Most sliding-scale programs have a lowest tier for people with no income, and many accept a signed self-declaration when you have no pay stubs to show. Ask for the clinic's discount program by name and ask what proof they take. Being told "bring proof of income" does not mean you are turned away for having none.
What should I bring to a first visit?
Usually a photo ID, something showing your address, proof of income or a self-declaration, your insurance or Medicaid card if you have one, and a written list of your current medications and doses. Call ahead — requirements vary, and arriving without the right paperwork is the most common reason a first visit gets rescheduled.
Do I need insurance, or immigration documents?
Federally funded health centers serve patients regardless of insurance status and do not require proof of citizenship to provide care. Volunteer and charitable clinics set their own rules. If it matters to you, ask before your visit what they require and what they record.
Is dental care included?
Usually not, and this is the single most common disappointment. Dental is frequently a separate program with its own eligibility, its own waiting list, and a narrower service list — extractions and urgent pain may be covered while fillings, crowns, root canals, and dentures are not. Confirm that dental is offered at this specific location before travelling.
Can I get a prescription refilled here?
Most clinics require an appointment before they will refill anything, and a first appointment can be weeks out. If you are close to running out of a medication you cannot safely stop, say so when you call — say the medication name and how many days you have left. Ask your pharmacy at the same time; pharmacists can sometimes authorise a short emergency supply.
What if I need care today?
