Since 1998, Proyecto Salud has provided medical services to the low-income, uninsured adults at its Wheaton location. One of the characteristic that makes Proyecto Salud Wheaton unique is its flexible and convenient schedules for services. The clinic is open on regular hours, evening and Saturdays. Proyecto Salud aims for an effective implementation of preventive care through programs that facilitate patients’ access to different level of quality care. Is dental care included?
Usually not, and this is the single most common disappointment. Dental is frequently a separate program with its own eligibility, its own waiting list, and a narrower service list — extractions and urgent pain may be covered while fillings, crowns, root canals, and dentures are not. Confirm that dental is offered at this specific location before travelling.
Can I get a prescription refilled here?
Most clinics require an appointment before they will refill anything, and a first appointment can be weeks out. If you are close to running out of a medication you cannot safely stop, say so when you call — say the medication name and how many days you have left. Ask your pharmacy at the same time; pharmacists can sometimes authorise a short emergency supply.
What if I need care today?
