Details: The Outpatient Perinatal Program provides counseling and referrals to clients with substance abuse and mental health problems. The Program is staffed by bilingual and drug-certified counselors and provides services for women who are pregnant, postpartum or parenting. The program assists clients in areas including domestic violence/sexual abuse, self-esteem, peer support, life skills, health education, drug education, 12 step/relapse, and parenting who receive treatment rather than incarceration.

Details: More than 30 years after the AIDS virus was discovered, the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS reports that 36.7 million people worldwide are living with the disease. In the United States, there are 1.2 million people with the disease, and 1 in 8 do not know it. Northeast Valley Health Corporation (NEVHC) continues to assist in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS. Currently, servicing more than 750 patients, NEVHC provides more than 2,000 HIV tests each year. Early medical care and treatment is important. HIV screenings are available at all NEVHC health centers, and treatment is provided at Van Nuys Adult Health Center. STI screenings and services are available at all health centers. All services are provided in a confidential and personal setting.

Remarks: Medical services are available to students attending the following schools: San Fernando High School, Mission Continuation High School and McAlister High School. Dental services are available for all children ages 6 months to 21 years.
Details: Our school-based health centers provide accessible, comprehensive health care directly on the school campus for the medically underserved youth and young adult population. We assist in preventing long-term illnesses and improving overall health. Having these campus health centers for students help reduce emergency room visits, decrease parental absences from work, increase early detection and treatment of disease, and provide linkages to community services when necessary.
